Summary
The pull-out close-stool part of a mahogany night table, or commode, English, circa 1750. Very good quality. Fitted with a white ceramic chamber pot beneath an oak cover. The stiles with beaded outer corners and fitted with small inset brass castors. With large brass handle with shaped backplate. Enclosing NT 1147150.3, a white ceramic chamberpot.
Provenance
Listed in an inventory taken in 1967 in the Lavatory. Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
