Summary
Wood mounted, embroidered peacock. Peacock embroidered in blue, orange, cream and shades of green on to a silk base, which has been cut out, mounted on to another textile and glued on to a three dimensional, carved wooden peacock-shaped armature. The textile mount, where it is turned over to the back of the armature, is embroidered with birds, flowers and insects. Part of the tester of the State Bed, it is mounted under the tester at the proper left foot, by means of a single screw.

Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
