Summary
Wood mounted, embroidered peacock. Peacock embroidered in blue, orange, cream and shades of green on to a silk base, which has been cut out and mounted on to another textile then glued on to a three dimensional, carved wooden peacock-shaped armature. Part of the tester of the State Bed, it is mounted under the tester at the proper right foot, by means of a single screw.
Provenance
Given by Philip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
