Summary
One of a pair of fruitwood child's high chairs, Welsh/English, early 19th century. NT 1147046.2 with additional metal fittings to the rear, and with the upper two thirds detachable to form a lower chair. The two parts of the chair are joined together by hinged metal plates with swivel catches. With a straight toprail above three slender reeded splats. The seat with a drop-in pad covered in horsehair and between open arms. The legs tapering and square-section and with a detachable footrest. Joined all round by high and low stretchers.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
