Summary
Soup tureen cover - Part of one of two large soup tureens with covers and stands from a large Coalport (?) porcelain dinner service, 'Indian Tree' design. The transfer printed design of magnolia and peonies is overpainted. Further peony sprays and a honeycomb border are used on all pieces. (i-iii) Still Room, (iv-vii) Servant's Passage Cupboard, (viii-clxxvi) New Kitchen/Attic China Cupboard. (xii) A vegetable dish and cover, (lxviii) a large rectangular serving dish. (lxxvi) A comport on a low central support, (lxxix-lxxxi) Three rectangular serving dishes, (cxxxiii-cxlii) Ten soup plates, (cxliii-clxxv) dinner plates.
Provenance
Given by Phillip Yorke III (1905-1978) along with the estate, house and contents to the National Trust in 1973.
