Summary
One of a pair, bed curtain, as part of a set with a valance, in plain red silk taffeta with along the leading and lower edges, an appliqué decoration of cut out red silk velvet, outlined with cord and a patterned woven braid 30 mm wide and chenille velvet piping. The patterned braid is worked in a scroll pattern and to achieve this the braid has been gathered. The leading edges of the curtains have been decorated with a red silk fringe 30 mm deep on a wide decorative gimp. The curtains are interlined and lined with natural coloured sateen curtain lining. The curtains are hand pleated along the top edge with 13 hooks. The design is in the style of Daniel Marot. The overall design of the curtains, hooks as opposed to rings, and decoration on leading edges only, implies that they are more likely to be window curtains as opposed to bed curtains.
