Summary
A bed cover made up of cream silk damask decorated with appliqué embroidery, flowers, vines and foliage. The multi-coloured blues, green and dark pink embroidery is worked in flossy silk and metal thread. The flossy silk is worked through a linen canvas, whilst the metal threads are laid threads. Each flower is outlined by a thicker cream coloured silk thread. The outer edges are decorated with a multi-coloured deep tassled fringe 120 mm deep, from a later date than the embroidery, matching the colours of the appliqué. The bed cover is partially lined with a cream coloured satin weave modern fabric and the seams are machine stiched. Also the outer edges are machine stitched through all the layers, including the fringes. An interlining is sandwiched between the damask and the lining. This matches cushions 1140238.
