Summary
Portrait miniature, enamel, Frances Worsley, Baroness Carteret (1694–1743) in the style of Christian Friedrich Zincke (Dresden 1685 - Lambeth 1767). Oval, after 1715. Head and shoulders portrait of a woman, facing, head tilted slightly to left, in a white dress with pearls and pink cloak. Plain light brown background, lit from the left. The subject was noted by her contemporaries as being ‘A very pretty lady, and 12,000’ (Abigail Harley c.1670-1734), and ‘a lady wise as well as fair’ with a ‘Beauty which needs no aid of art’ (Patrick Delaney 1685/6–1768).
