Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on vellum, Elizabeth Howard, Countess of Peterborough (1603-1671) by studio of John Hoskins the elder (Wells c.1590 – London 1665). Oval. c.1638-1640. Head and shoulders portrait, head inclined slightly to the left, wearing a gold dress, grey cloak fastened with a pearl rope, pearl necklace and double pearl ear-drops. Brown eyes, fair hair in ringlets, pale face, sidelong glance. Dark brown background.
