Portrait miniature, oil painting on vellum Catherine Howard, Lady d’Aubigny (d.1650) by studio of John Hoskins the elder (Wells c.1590 – London 1665). 1638-1640. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a young woman, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, in a low-cut blue dress with jewelled clasps, yellow cloak, pearl necklace and double pearl ear-drops. Grey eyes, fair hair in ringlets dressed at the back with pearls and blue ribbon, pale face. Plain drab background.
