Oil painting on plaster (circular), Flora attended by Cupids, style of Antonio Verrio (Lecce c.1639 – Hampton Court Palace 1707), inscribed with monogram: J E L in the corners, 1673/74.
Provenance
Lauderdale Bill, for work done between 8 August 1673 and 12 December 1674 includes the item: "For putting in 3 Pictures into ye Frames & putting them up in the Alcove Roome & cutting one strainining [sic] frame"; in Lord Dysart's Bedroom, 1911; in the Duchess's Bedroom when acquired in 1948 by HM Government when Sir Lyonel, 4th Bt (1854 – 1952) and Sir Cecil Tollemache, 5th Bt (1886 – 1969) presented Ham House to the National Trust, and entrusted to the care of the Victoria & Albert Museum, until 1990, when returned to the care of the National Trust, and to which ownership was transferred in 2002
