Caption
Lady Blanche was the fourth daughter of George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle (1773-1884) and Lady Georgiana Cavendish (1783-1858), daughter of William Cavendish 5th Duke of Devonshire (1748-1811). She married William Cavendish, 2nd Earl of Burlington and 7th Duke of Devonshire (1808-1891) in 1829. She bore him three boys. Their eldest son, Spencer Compton Cavendish (1833-1908), became 8th Duke of Devonshire. This portrait is after the original at Chatsworth.
