Oil painting on canvas, Lord Charles Cavendish (d.1783) by Enoch Seeman the younger (Gdańsk c.1694 – London 1744). Three-quarter length portrait, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing reddish-brown coat, His right hand on his hip, his left placed in his coat with his hat under his arm.
Provenance
By descent until, following the death of the 10th Duke of Devonshire (1895 - 1950), Hardwick Hall and its contents were accepted by HM Treasury in part payment of death duties and transferred to the National Trust, in 1959
