Summary
Cover for Germanic ornamental goblet; body composed of soft red earthenware, cover of metal with bronze figure finial. Moulded body with metalwork detail - eight faceted base, above burden-bearing relief figures at stem. Moulded niches with Gothic decoration above niches, some containing relief figure scenes, others with inscriptions. Inscription around top; metal rim and cover - pewter - spiral dome with elaborate gilt and painted metal balustrade. Semi-kneeling bronze finial figure, surrounded by gilt grapes. Outside painted crudely in blue/red and gold.
