Summary
A mahogany dining table section, part of a five-pillar dining table, English, circa 1795, with rounded ends, and raised on five reeded vase-turned columns and four downswept supports terminating in pad feet and fitted with castors. This section differs from the other three central sections in that it has fold out columnar supports fitted with brass caps and castors.
Provenance
By descent until, following the death of Edward William Spencer Cavendish, 10th Duke of Devonshire (1895 - 1950), Hardwick Hall and its contents were accepted by HM Treasury in part payment of death duties and transferred to the National Trust, in 1959.
