Summary
Base, support and cover for Max Ernst's (1891-1976) painted granite pebble stone, untitled, 1934 (NT 112759.1). Stone base with wooden surround, with cylindrical cardboard support and perspex cover. Probably designed by Ernö Goldfinger (1902-1987) when he acquired the stone from Max Ernst in 1939.
Provenance
Probably designed c.1939 by and for Ernö Goldfinger. Purchased by the National Trust in 1994 with support from the Art Fund, other charitable foundations and private donors.
