Summary
A mahogany-framed daybed, English, mid-18th century, with some later alterations. With one raised end with scroll-over top covered in linen. And raised on a base of six tapering square-section legs, some fitted with metal and leather castors. The legs joined by three cross-stretchers and one central stretcher. Later oak external seat rails to strengthen frame.
Provenance
Bed with upholstered backboard, scrolled over at top. Six mahogany legs on metal castors; three cross stretchers, one central longitudinal stretcher. Strong canvas strips fastened with leather nailed to outside frame and tied at inner edges over two struts. 18th C.
