Summary
Oak door of 17th century type with three uneven fielded panels, presumably contemporary with the panelling lining the interior of the room (G11) introduced by Thomas Smalman in 1672 (date and initials ‘T.I(J?).S’ incorporated into the upper frieze of the west wall. A redundant peg hole visible within the stud forming the eastern jamb of the door (D8) indicates the location of a former mid-rail and thus it can be assumed that the doorway has been inserted and that G11/G12 originally constituted a single room.
