Summary
One of the seven black pawn chess pieces from an ebony and ivory-veneered games box, Visakhapatnam, circa 1850, in the form of two hinged books, (NT11142.1.1). Made of ivory with a circular plinth base, turned stem and enlarged belly section.

Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
