Summary
An ebony and ivory-veneered games box and key, Visakhapatnam, circa 1850, in the form of two hinged books. The exterior with a chess board panel in the centre surrounded by an engraved decorative double border of vine leaves and flowers, the sandalwood interior inlaid with a backgammon board and engraved lozenges and roundels containing a set of three ebony and ivory boxes with a conforming decoration, each of which contain chess and draught/backgammon game pieces.
