Summary
A hardwood and engraved ivory dressing box, Visakhapatnam, India, circa 1720-40. Inlaid overall with scrolling leaves and flowers with similar engraved borders, the interior similarly inlaid, the lid centred by a mirror. The interior has two lidded side compartments each over two small drawers with a further five drawers at the rear, engraved ivory borders enclosing panels of tortoise shell. A later lock with key is stamped; CHUBBS LEVER LONDON.
