Oil painting on canvas (in pale green monochrome), The Front Door and Porch of Chartwell by Sir William Nicholson (Newark-on-Trent 1872 – Berkshire 1949), circa 1934. Chartwell Manor House - the front door and porch, oil sketch in pale green monochrome - depicts the front door, whose 18th century doorcase was purchased from the London architectrural salvage company Thomas Crowther and Sons by Philip Tilden, the architect, at Churchill's suggestion.
