Section of an octagonal room with a domed, coffered ceiling. Proposal for a new building at Kedleston. Attributed to James Paine the elder. Watermark: Strasburg lily with initials VDL, "44" in left-hand corner.
Provenance
Attributed to James Paine the elder for Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Baron Scarsdale. By descent to Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale. Acquired by gift as part of the transfer of Kedleston Hall to the National Trust in 1987. Previously bound in "Sections of Rooms at Kedleston" as p. 76 [44] (See CMS inv. no. 109428).
