Summary
"Section of the Chimney Side of the Library" (Christie's description). Paintings identified in ink and pencil. Measurements given in ink for doors, bookcases and four out of six paintings.Scale in feet. Signed and dated: "Robt Adam Architect 1760". Numbered "12". Watermark: Strasbourg lily. According to Leslie Harris, this and the other finished drawings for the Library may have been produced in 1765, after the plan to create four pavilions had been abandoned. (see Harris, "Robert Adam and Kedleston", p. 42) [See also CMS inv. nos. 109438, 109440, 109441, 109442 & 109443]. This and the other library drawings were previously bound in "Sections of Rooms at Kedleston" (CMS inv. no. 109428), pp. [19], [21]-[25], [27].

Created by Robert Adam for Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Baron Scarsdale. By descent to Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale. Acquired by gift as part of the transfer of Kedleston Hall to the National Trust in 1987.
