Summary
Section of a wall with chimney and door, intended for the East pavilion. Two medallions on either side of chimney depicting classical objects (tripod and altar[?]). In ink: "Chimney side of the Vestibule to the Family Pavilion at Kedleston", followed in pencil (in the hand of Lord Curzon): "(not executed)". Also in pencil above signature: "Never executed / C" [Lord Curzon]. Signed and dated: "J. Rose 1797". Annotated in ink by Rose: "NB: The other side intended to be the same leaving out the chimney and the door put at the other end". No watermark.

Created by Joseph Rose for Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Baron Scarsdale. By descent to Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale. Acquired by gift as part of the transfer of Kedleston Hall to the National Trust in 1987.
