Summary
Set of four drawings of Hackwood Park, Hampshire, pasted on double paper stubs stitched together (perhaps previously a covered sketchbook). Watermarks: Strasbourg bend (sinister); Strasbourg lily; J Whatman. All drawings showing pink wash for alterations made to the North front. This may have been done at the same time as the south front, which was designed by Samuel Wyatt and continued by his nephew Lewis Wyatt. Lord Curzon was a tenant between 1906 and 1925, which may explain the presence of these drawings in the Kedleston collection.
Provenance
Possibly obtained by Lord Curzon while tenant at Hackwood Park between 1906 and 1925. By descent to Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale. Acquired by gift as part of the transfer of Kedleston Hall to the National Trust in 1986.
