Summary
A large George III tureen the bowl supported by baroque dolphins and kneeling Venus figures, the lid with a cherub, bowl has the Cruzon coat of arms and motto. One of the tureens made by William Cripps, which forms part of the Philips Garden service itemised in a bill of 1759 for silver ordered by the 1st Lord Scarsdale from Philips Garden of London for the dining room of the new house at Kedleston.
Provenance
Purchased from the Curzon family with a Victoria and Albert Museum grant in 1996.
