Summary
A pair of George III bronze and steel fire grates including fenders with supports formed as winged rams and hoof feet, the ends surmounted by Vases- 6 fire irons en suite; 2 pokers; 2 tongs; 2 shovels. Designed by Robert Adam and probably made by Thomas Blockley of Birmingham possibly with the collaboration of Matthew Boulton, c.1776-77.
Provenance
Curzon Collection acquired by gift as part of the transfer of Kedleston Hall to The National Trust in 1986.
