Flintlock sporting gun, c1780, by John Clark, London (1756 1798) (lock missing), the barrel by Anton Clein of Vienna (unrecorded). Although of much plainer form this rifle almost forms a pair with KED/A/21.Barrel: Octagonal iron barrel engraved at the breech and signed ANTON CLEIN IN WIENN. The fore-sight missing. The breech stamped with London Gunmakers Company proof marks and an illegible makers mark. Gold lined touch-hole. Secured to the stock by 4 barrel slides. The ramrod missing. Barrel length 80cm Calibre 16mm. Walnut full stock with a shell carved apron around barrel tang. The fore-stock made as a separate piece. Engraved iron furniture comprising; butt-plate, trigger guard with shell form finial, decorative side-plate, and 4 ramrod pipes. Silver escutcheon with bird and coronet engraving. Scroll form iron trigger. The lock missing. Overall length 119.5cm
