Summary
Oil painting on paper, A Maharaja (possibly of Benares), possibly Indian School, circa 1900. This portrait may be the Maharaja of Benares. There is a certain similarity with the painting and the official photograph for the Durbar; though he is facing the camera and for the painting he is in profile. The painting would have been made earlier as there is a brooch of Queen Victoria in his turban. In a plain dark wood frame.
