Summary
A lid for a Cantonese enamel box. It has a foliated shape with a raised central disc. The sides have been decorated with a yellow ground with swirling flower motif in green with blue and pink flowers; this imitates famille rose porcelain. The disc depicts a domestic scene of a man sitting on the steps of his house playing with two sons that are holding toys and a drum. 'A nest of five Chinese Canton enamel boxes' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
