Summary
An address given by the Corporation of Patna, marking Lord Curzon's visit in 1903. It consists of a printed piece of paper in gold ink, surrounded by lime green silk that has an intricate border of geometric patterns and swirling floral motif in gold and metallic pink thread with gold sequins. The back is covered in red kincob. 'A velvet case with gold embroidery set with pearls, for an address from the Corporation of Patna', (Christie's entry).
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
