Summary
A blue velvet case with gold embroidery. The swirling floral motif covers the entire case and uses gold thread, sequins and pearls. It was made to contain an address from the Corporation of Patna. The lining is made of a pink satin. 'A velvet case with gold embroidery set with pearls, for an address from the Corporation of Patna', (Christie's entry).
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
