Summary
A cloisonné tripod incense burner dating from the Qianlong period (1736 - 1795). This time in Chinese history produced the finest cloisonné. The blue ground for cloisonné was discovered in the fifteenth century and was extremely popular during the Qianlong period. It is part of a set that includes the bottle vase on the top shelf of case 3 (107359) and the cylindrical box on the middle shelf (107373). Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
