Summary
A bronze water vessel that was probably made in Tamilnadu, India. The decoration consists of figures in raised relief that are place into individual ornamented archways. The borders are made from rows of, floral, leaf and bird patterns. 'A South-Indian bronze jar' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
