On the reverse of this photograph is a note in Lady Berwick's handwriting (Edith Teresa Hulton, 8th Lady Berwick) which reads: 'Cronkhill 1920 / In the recess, the Roman Amphora which I was given at Aquileia during the war & brought to England on my marriage'.
Provenance
Given to Edith Teresa Hulton (8th Lady Berwick, 1890-1972) during the First World War at Aquileia and which she brought to England with her on her marriage to Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick in 1919.
