Summary
Druid statue by Coade. Originally sheltered in the cover of Brown's Temple Greenhouse Shrubbery, within sight of Robert Adam's classical building, which lends its name to the plantation. Representations of ancient history were popular in the early 19th century and Coade produced similar figures for other estates. The Druid statue is in relatively good order. The neo-classical pedestal for the Druid, designed by James Wyatt in 1796 was carved by mason William Stephens in the same year. It is made of several Portland stone blocks and remains in situ within the grounds of Croome Park.
