Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Captain Alfred Matthews, RN (1792-1873) by J. W. Slater (fl.1806-1831). c.1822-1827. Rectangular. Half-length portrait of a man, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a post-captain's uniform. with gold epaulettes and black stock. Blue eyes, light brown hair, a la Titus, aged about 30 to 35. (see SIZ.D.25).
