Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Henry Matthews (1789-1828) by J. W. Slater (fl.1806-1831). c.1814. Rectangular. Half-length portrait of a young man, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a green coat with brown cur collar. Brown eyes, short black hair, fresh complexion, slightly florning, aged about 25. Scumbled drab background, lit from the left. (see SIZ.D.30).
