Summary
An ebony and ebonized centre table, inlaid with engraved ivory, hardstones and tortoiseshell, Italian, circa 1870. The rectangular top centred by an ivory plaque engraved with an allegory of Architecture, between two oval plaques of arabesque-engraved ivory, both inset with a blue hardstone, within parquetry. The frieze fitted with two drawers and on four fluted and gadrooned turned legs, united by a shaped 'X'-form stretcher inset with roundels of tortoiseshell. All-over inlaid with plaques of tortoiseshell and engraved ivory, and with brass or pewter lines. Fitted with a later plate glass top.
