Summary
A kingwood, tulipwood, bois satiné, amaranth and fruitwood gilt metal-mounted bonheur du jour, French, late 19th century, in Louis XV/XVI transitional style. Its decoration in the manner of Charles Topino (1742 - 1803). Possibly with some 18th century elements included. Of oval plan and surmounted by a cupboard with a pierced brass gallery above a pair of cupboard doors inlaid with trellis parquetry and with two reserves inlaid with a vase of flowers. The doors enclosing a shelf and drawers inlaid with foliate quartrefoils in stained fruitwood. The table surface inlaid with a musical trophy, and with partial pierced brass gallery to its edge. The frieze with a drawer containing a writing surface, an inkwell and a pen tray. Raised on four cabriole supports with gilt metal mounts to the knee and gilt metal applied bead edge, tipped by foliate-cast sabots.
