Summary
A bois satiné, kingwood, tulipwood, fruitwood and ormolu-mounted kidney-shaped work and writing table, French, probably Paris, circa 1900. The hinged top edged with a band of moulded ormolu and inlaid with a central trophy and sprays of flowers within inlaid bands, enclosing an interior fitted with divisions. The friezes with flowerhead trellis marquetry. The front frieze with a pull-out writing slide; the left proper frieze fitted with a small drawer. Raised on cabriole legs with Rococo cartouche and foliate mounts and sabots, and united by a floral-inlaid shelf stretcher with a pierced gallery edge.
