Full description
Percussion Sporting gun, English c1840. The lock signed, J. MAGGICHS (unrecorded). Round iron barrel with flat top to the tapering false breech, the forward section formed with an under-rib (loose) with 2 ramrod pipes (missing). Bead foresight. Engraved barrel tang. The metal rusted and covered with black paint. Retained to the stock by 1 barrel slide with white metal escutcheons. Ramrod missing. Barrel length 81.3cm. Calibre 18.5mm. Walnut half-stock, with chequered wrist. Some small pieces of wood missing. Engraved iron furniture comprising; buttplate, trigger guard with scroll shaped finger-rest. The metal rusted and covered with black paint. White metal fore-end cap and brass escutcheon. Percussion lock, engraved overall and signed, J. MAGGICHS (faint). Retained to the stock by 1 sidenail. The metal rusted and covered with black paint. Overall length: 121.5cm
