Summary
8-day English longcase clock in Mahogany case, signed ‘Samuel Whichcote London’ on the dial. Two-train, weight-driven movement with anchor recoil escapement, rack-striking on a bell and five knopped pillars. Brass break arch dial with 6 gilt floral spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and Arabic 5-minute markers, date aperture above the 6 o’clock position with silvered date ring, silvered signature cartouche above date aperture, silvered seconds subdial chapter with Arabic 10-second markers, silvered strike/silent chapter in the break arch, and blued steel hands. - Updated description from Dale Sardeson 15/01/2024 A longcase clock in mahogany case, striking movement by Samuel Whichcote, London.
