Summary
Print, coloured aquatint etching, Capture of 'La Minerve' by (after Thomas Whitcombe) by Thomas Sutherland (1785-1838). Minerve was a French 40-gun frigate (1794). In 1795, she and the 36-gun Artémise engaged the frigates HMS Dido and Lowestoffe. She surrendered to the British, Artémise having fled, and was commissioned in the Royal Navy as HMS Minerve.
