Summary
One of five oak Yorkshire mortuary chairs made in the 19th century. They copy a 17th century style with carved back rails in form of two ruffs which are said to represent the two shirts Charles I wore at his execution. Drops of acorns on backrails, turned front rails and stretchers and plain wooden seat.
