Mezzotint, Louis-Philippe-Joseph, Duke of Orleans 'Philippe Egalité' (1747-1793), John Raphael Smith (Derby 1752 – Worcester 1812) after Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-92), c. 1786. A mezzotint print by John Raphael Smith after a full-length portrait by Joshua Reynolds depicting the Duke of Orléans wearing the Hussar's uniform and the ribbon of the Saint-Esprit (Royal Collection Trust, RCIN 404555). Below the Duke is an unidentified groom holding a charger, and in the distance a castle on a hill. The portrait was commissioned by George IV and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1786.
