Summary
Watercolour on paper, Cottages near Jay by Myles Birket Foster (North Shields 1825 – Weybridge 1899). Birket Foster was born in North Shields, brought up in London as a Quaker. Apprenticed to Ebenzer Landells, wood engraver, pupil of Bewick. Became Associate of the Old Watercolour Society in 1859 and a full member in 1862. Shows watercolour of a croft and buildings with two figures in the foreground, three cows and some poultry. Mountains behind.
