Summary
The furniture in the Queen Anne Drawing Room was Mrs Carlisle's first commission in 1933. Made by F J Early, of Worthing, it sets an impeccable standard of craftsmanship and realism. Drawers are made with dovetailed joints, all the locks have keys which turn, and the chairs are correctly jointed by mortice and tenon. The central writing bureau has several secret drawers and the grandmother clock is fitted with a Swiss movement. The walls are hung with flower pictures in oils and Italian mosaic. All the porcelain is genuine Limoges, but the figurines on the mantelpiece are copies of Bow, Nymphenburg and Chelsea originals. The corner shelves display a collection of Bristol glass. The room setting of parana pine was made in 1968.
