Summary
Corner cabinet giving the impression of a town house on several floors, not unlike the house then occupied by Mrs Carlisle. The free-standing pieces are antique miniatures, but unlike the furniture in the commissioned rooms they are made to different scales, since they were collected item by item. Top floor, the ebony mirrors are inlaid with mother of pearl. The cradle is a snuff box. Second floor, the furniture is Victorian. The sideboard was designed as a tea caddy and the lamp standards were carved from nuts. First floor, the ornaments deserve special study. They are either of wood or ivory. Minute pieces in treen are displayed on the right hand shelf, including string boxes, snuff boxes in the shape of shoes and tea caddies in the shape of an apple and pear. Ground floor, the antique furiture is made in traditional country style, from native woods. The plates on the table are modern versions of the traditional Indian tree pattern and identical to Mrs Carlisle's full size dinner service. The shelves hold pewter tankards and platters.
